Pip: Summer in Elgin, Oregon — where the Grande Ronde River runs quiet and someone is about to win a trophy called the Buggiest Award.
Mara: City Administrator has a post out spotlighting Riverfest, the annual car show and community event the Elgin Lions Club hosts every June, and Hu-Na-Ha RV Park is right in the middle of it. Let's start with what the event actually looks like.
Elgin Riverfest — June 20 at the Community Center
Pip: The question here is simple: what is Riverfest, and why does it matter that Hu-Na-Ha RV Park has its name on it?
Mara: The post lays it out directly — "The Elgin Lions Club is hosting the annual Riverfest car show on June 20, 2026 from 9:00AM-3:00PM at the Elgin Community Center! The event includes the fireman's breakfast, duck race, car show, duck train, antique tractor show, and much more."
Pip: So this is a full community day, not just a car show with a parking lot and a folding table. There's a duck race. There's a duck train. Someone made a distinction between those two things, and I respect the commitment.
Mara: The award categories reinforce that this is a serious show — Best of Show, Best Ford, Best Mopar, Best GM, Best Pick-up, Participants Choice, Longest Distance, Orphan Award, Sheriff's Award, and the Sweet Chariot category. Hu-Na-Ha RV Park specifically sponsors two of them: the Mayor's Award and the Fire Chief's Award.
Pip: Sponsoring the Mayor's Award and the Fire Chief's Award puts the park's name alongside the two most visible civic trophies of the day. That's deliberate placement.
Mara: Pre-registration is fifteen dollars through June 6, rising to twenty after that. Checks go to The Elgin Lions Club at PO Box 1175, Elgin, OR 97827, with "Riverfest Car Show" in the memo line. Steve Oliver is the contact at 541-786-1040 or oliverucso@yahoo.com.
Pip: And the post doesn't just cover the event — it makes the case for staying at the park while you're there.
Mara: Right. Hu-Na-Ha sits at the gateway to the Blue Mountains and Wallowa Mountains, on the Grande Ronde River, with fifteen tent sites, twenty-five pull-through sites, nineteen back-in sites, full hookups, thirty and fifty amp service, unlimited WiFi, and full amenities. It frames the park as the natural base camp for the weekend.
Pip: A car show, a duck race, and a riverside RV park sponsoring the civic trophies — Elgin is doing a lot with a June Saturday.
Mara: Reserve your spot before the event fills the calendar. More from Hu-Na-Ha next time.
